Hezbollah Strikes Northern Israel; Casualties Reported in Missile Attacks

A tragic series of attacks by Hezbollah on Monday left one lady dead and over 20 people injured, including several critically, as northern and central Israel came under intense rocket fire. The assault featured more than 100 rockets targeting northern locations and a lone missile fired into the Tel Aviv district.

Casualties in Shfar’am and Central Israel
In Shfar’am, a northern town, a 41-year-old woman, Safaa Awad, tragically lost her life when a rocket struck a residential structure. Rescue teams retrieved her body after she was trapped in the rubble. Among those hurt in the incident were an adult woman and a little child, both in serious condition. The Rambam Medical Center in Haifa reported treating over 50 persons, many for acute anxiety, including 18 youngsters.

In a second strike in the Ramat Gan and Bnei Brak regions near Tel Aviv, missile fragments injured five individuals. One 54-year-old woman was badly harmed, while adjacent buildings experienced heavy damage when fires broke out owing to the falling debris.

Military and Civilian Response
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted many of the rockets using air defense systems. However, missile fragments from interceptions caused substantial damage. The IDF continues to examine the situation while targeting Hezbollah locations in Lebanon.

Escalating Conflict
These strikes are part of an ongoing escalation between Hezbollah and Israel. Tensions have been growing since late 2023 when cross-border rocket and drone assaults intensified. The IDF has initiated major operations in southern Lebanon to remove Hezbollah’s infrastructure, including rocket launch sites and tunnels.

Broader Impact
The attacks have displaced thousands of Israelis living near the northern border. In Lebanon, retaliatory strikes by Israel struck Hezbollah strongholds and resulted in additional casualties. Schools in Beirut were shut down as the crisis expanded to the Lebanese capital.

With peace attempts underway, including meetings involving foreign mediators, the region remains tense as both sides brace for future developments.
